The records of the John Harvard Library contain the general correspondence of the board of directors and editors (i.e. scholars chosen by the board). Also contains financial records and miscellaneous items such as J.H.L. brochures and notes covering series design. John Harvard Library, adjunct of the Harvard University Press, was devoted to publishing for the general reader important documents of American cultural history which were previously available only in research libraires or in unsatisfactory editions. The series, selected by a board of scholars (i.e. Harvard University professors) and edited under their supervision, contains works in political and economic theory, sociology, music, and fiction from the twentieth century.
